HOW TO TRAIN CHANGE AGENTS? SOCIAL INNOVATORS MET IN GERMANY
“Challenge becomes a chance” is a motto, under which a meeting of social innovators took place in Germany. They met in a German town of Bad Urach on the initiative of the Starkmacher organization. During 5 days, they were sharing their experience of solving essential social problems as well as looking for opportunities of cooperation.
“It was very interesting to learn how people engaged in the development of social entrepreneurship find ways to overcome poverty and tackle the same tasks we face. It gives us new ideas and inspires for further work”, Commented Serhiy Oliynyk, the representative of the Ukrainian Social Academy. At the meeting, Serhiy spoke about the Academy’s programs and cases and also invited foreign partners to visit Ukraine.
The participants from 14 countries participated in workshops, seminars and group discussions. The climax of the program was the screening of a movie about favelas (illegal settlements) in Brazil. “Before this movie, I knew little about the life of people in favelas. It is particularly interesting that one of the participants in the meeting, Bernard, lived in Brazil and has first-hand knowledge of the problem. His comments helped us understand that the problem is not as simple as it seems at first glance”, comments Serhiy.
In the near future, the USA expects a lot of partnership projects both in Ukraine and abroad: SIA Summit, Act4Impact, and their number will be increasing. After all, we can do much more together, we only have to learn how to see the potential for growth.
