The Academy held a Social Navigator 2021 conference!
For the International Day of Social Business, which took place on June 29, we held a conference on “Building an ecosystem of social entrepreneurship in Ukraine”. The phenomenon of social entrepreneurship in Ukraine is becoming more widespread and interesting among various audiences. Over the past 5 years, many initiatives and organizations that develop social entrepreneurship have also appeared in Ukraine. Therefore, today it is more important than ever to talk about the formation of an ecosystem for the development of social business in Ukraine.
At the conference we discussed the achievements and prospects for the development of social entrepreneurship in Ukraine, in particular:
⁃ opportunities for social entrepreneurship for community development;
⁃ opportunities for social entrepreneurship for social service of religious communities and organizations;
⁃ training in social entrepreneurship: opportunities and requests from the social entrepreneurs themselves;
⁃ financial and non-financial support for social entrepreneurs in Ukraine.
The conference was divided into 4 thematic blocks, which revealed the topic of building an ecosystem of social entrepreneurship in Ukraine.
The first block was about “Opportunities for social entrepreneurship for community development”, where speakers were: Elena Prysyazhnyuk, representative of the business support department of economic policy of the Department of Economy and Investment of Vinnytsia City Council, Volodymyr Vasylevsky, director of the Regional Development Agency in Ternopil region, and Ivanna Khomitska, head of the Center development of social entrepreneurship in Ternopil.
The second block was devoted to the topic “Social entrepreneurship – a tool for social service and development for religious communities and organisations”. This topic was opened by Mykhailo Melnyk (co-founder of the Ukrainian Social Academy), Fr. Roman Lagish (abbot of the Redemptorist monastery in Novoyavorivsk, Executive Secretary of the Association of Consecrated Life in Ukraine), Fr. Serhiy Trifyak (Caritas of the Kolomyia Diocese of the UGCC, General Director of the Patriarchal Pilgrimage Center of the UGCC), Fr. Vasyl Stefanko (treasurer of the Chernivtsi eparchy of the UGCC, pastor of the parish of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, Vyzhnytsia).
The third block discussed the topic “Learning opportunities for social entrepreneurs: formal and non-formal education.” Speakers – Petro Darmoris (Academic Director of the Ukrainian Social Academy), Olena Pidopryhora (Program Director at Impact Hub Odessa), Natalia Rudenko (Director of the School of Marketing and Communications Baggage, Lecturer and Mentor of the Social Entrepreneurship Accelerator Program), Oleksandra Osvyanyuk-Berdadina Department of Management, Public Administration and Personnel, Western Ukrainian National University).
The last block talked about “Opportunities for financial and non-financial support for social enterprises.” Vasyl Nazaruk (Head of Social Investment Programs at Western NIS Enterprise Fund), Iryna Solovey (co-founder and president of Garage Gang, co-founder of Velyka Idea and crowdfunding platform Spilnokosht), Victoria Mykolayuk (head of the Nechitaylo family fund) spoke at the event.
